Cheltenham loan Albion starlet

West Brom youngster Rob Elvins has joined Cheltenham Town on loan.

West Brom have allowed youngster Rob Elvins to gain experience during a loan spell with Cheltenham Town.

The 19-year-old moves to Whaddon Road on a one-month loan deal in search of regular first-team football.

Elvins is yet to appear for Albion's first team but has been a regular in the club's reserve and youth teams in recent years.

Albion boss Bryan Robson is hoping his starlet will rise to the test of playing League football week in, week out as he continues his development in senior football.

"Hopefully he'll get first-team experience and it will be a chance for him to play in front of bigger crowds than in reserve-team football," Robson told West Brom's official website.

"It will be a good challenge for him as he'll be facing seasoned pros and we see this as the next step in his development."

Elvins will be ineligible for the Carling Cup tie between the two sides on September 19.

The striker joins Wolves defender Keith Lowe in joining Cheltenham this week and manager John Ward is pleased to have the pair on board.

"I'm delighted that we have got these two young players and their arrival will strengthen the squad and give us a bit more scope," Ward said on the club's official website.

"I'm particularly pleased to have brought in these two players because it's very difficult to get loan players at this time of year.

"We have eight games coming up over the next month and even if I had all of my squad fit, I would not be looking to let any out on loan for that reason.

"I'm grateful to both Wolves and West Brom for letting the players come to us."
