Cesar back after long lay-off

Real Zaragoza received a boost on Tuesday as Cesar Jimenez returned to training.

Real Zaragoza received a boost on Tuesday as Cesar Jimenez returned to training after 21 months out of the game with a knee injury.

The 29-year-old defender ruptured cruciate ligaments in his right knee in a collision with Luis Figo in January 2005.

Last October, Cesar looked set to return to action before suffering a second injury that sidelined him for the rest of the 2005-06 campaign.

He appeared in one match, against Alaves, before damaging the meniscus in his left knee which required surgery to repair the damage.

Cesar moved to Zaragoza's B team from Real Madrid's C side in 2000, and broke into the first team at La Romareda a year later.

After spending two seasons on loan at Almeria, he returned to the Aragonese outfit and picked up the injury in his first league appearance of the season.
