Frank Lampard was delighted and relieved to score his penalty against Fulham. The midfielder had missed three of his last four spot-kicks and German newcomer Michael Ballack had appeared to be given the responsibility following his successful penalty against Werder Bremen.
However, with Ballack suspended, Lampard stepped up to fire Chelsea in front at Craven Cottage after Liam Rosenior had handled in the area.
"A lot has been said about penalties, especially because Ballack took the last one and scored for us," he commented.
"But it's not important who takes them, it's important that they hit the back of the net.
"When we got it, I took responsibility and was pleased when it went in.
"There's always pressure and I suppose there's more pressure when you've missed the last one."
Lampard proceeded to score a delightful second as Chelsea returned to the top of The Premiership with a 2-0 victory.
"It felt good to score two important goals because the game was very tight, a difficult one."
