Taylor names Under-21 squad
Gabriel Agbonlahor and Lee Cattermole have been drafted into England's Under-21 squad.
Gabriel Agbonlahor and Lee Cattermole have both been drafted into England's Under-21 squad for the forthcoming European Championship play-off with Germany.It is a first time call for both the Aston Villa and Middlesbrough starlets and is reward for their recent progress with their respective clubs, where both are now regular first team members.
Under-21 boss Peter Taylor has named a strong squad including Charlton's Darren Bent and Theo Walcott of Arsenal for the crucial double-header next month.
"Darren is a very popular lad and a great goalscorer. To win big matches like these you need top goalscorers and we have several in this squad," said Taylor.
"Nugent, Walcott and Jerome have done very well for the Under-21s this season and Agbonlahor is an exciting player who deserves his chance after a great start to the season for his new manager.
"As well as being goalscorers, these are players who can also give us plenty of options in different attacking positions. Lee Cattermole is also a good midfielder who we are keen to have a look at."
The Crystal Palace boss has also found a place for his own defender Gary Borrowdale.
