Paintsil's visa problems
West Ham have lost John Paintsil's services for the Pompey match due to visa problems.
West Ham United will be starved of defender John Paintsil's services for the Portsmouth match due to visa problems.The Ghanaian international played for his country in Sunday's 3-1 win in South Korea.
But Alan Pardew has confirmed the right back was forced to return to Africa, however, when UK Customs officials turned him away because his visa had expired.
"He is not missing. He is doing everything he can to get back with a new visa," Pardew told the Sun.
Paintsil is now set to return to the UK on Friday, but will be unavailable for Saturday's match at Fratton Park.
Argentinian frontman Carlos Tevez is also struggling with a knee injury and Danny Gabbidon is a doubt, as The Hammers look to kick-start their poor start to the season so far.
