Al Saadi Gaddafi has expressed his desire to return to Italian football.The 33-year-old, son of the Libyan head of state Colonel Gaddafi, previously played for Serie B side Perugia in 2003 before failing a drugs test.
He now claims to have held talks with Sampdoria supremo Riccardo Garrone, and is hopeful of securing a move.
Gaddafi said: "It is true. I have had contact with an important Serie A club.
"They are Sampdoria, and I have met with Garrone's family in Tripoli.
"Playing another year in Italy would be fascinating, but there are many things to sort out first."
Garrone's oil company is believed to have business dealings in Libya, but Sampdoria have so far remained tightlipped on the rumours.
