Pizarro in Sevilla link

Sevilla are reportedly interested in luring Claudio Pizarro away from Bayern Munich.

Sevilla are reportedly interested in luring Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro away from the Allianz Arena.

Pizarro's current contract with the German champions expires at the end of the season and negotiations on an extension are not making progress, with Sevilla ready to step in and make a move.

German daily Bild is reporting that the Spanish outfit's sport director Ramon Rodrigues Verdejo has already contacted Pizarro's agent Carlos Delgado to discuss a possible move.

Pizarro has been in fine form for Bayern this season - scoring four goals - but his reported contract demands could still lead to him leaving the club at the end of the season.

The Peruvian international is demanding a sum thought to be in the region of ‚é¼4 million (£2.7 million) a year, angering chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"Anyone wishing to earn as much as Shevchenko had better start playing like Shevchenko," Rummenigge said.

Meanwhile, Pizarro has hit out at Peru's current regime under coach Franco Navarro.

The South American nation have yet to win in the five games under the former national team striker and Pizarro says he is unwilling to feature for his country while Navarro is in charge.

"I've sent a letter to the directors of the federation informing them that while this coach continues I will not play for the national team," Pizarro told RPP radio station.

"So, I've asked them not to pick me for the upcoming games. That's my final say in the matter.

"I haven't quit the national team, I'd never do that, but I don't believe in the current process."
