Zaragoza hit by Cuartero injury

Real Zaragoza captain Luis Cuartero has been ruled out of action for six months.

Real Zaragoza captain Luis Cuartero has been ruled out of action for six months through injury.

The 31-year-old defender suffered a problem with his left knee in training.

Tests on the Estadio La Romareda star have revealed he suffered cruciate ligament damage and will require surgery.

Cuartero has taken the news in his stride however, and hopes to defy the doctors' predictions by making a quick recovery.

"This is a bad moment for me now, but it is possible in the future to gain a speedy recuperation," Cuartero commented.

The news comes as a blow to Zaragoza after a good start to the season, which sees them in sixth, ahead of their home game with Real Betis on Saturday.
