Pasqualetti the man for Sedan
Sedan's chairman says he had no choice but to replace manager Serge Romano.
Sedan chairman Pascal Urano says he had no choice but to replace manager Serge Romano with his assistant. The CSSA supremo bit the bullet and got rid of his coach after just one win from 11 Ligue 1 games so far this season, which has left them second bottom of the table.
Former Ajaccio coach Jose Pasqualetti has taken charge of the Stade Louis-Dugauguez outfit and the Sedan chief insists he took no joy from the decision, particularly after Romano's (pictured) previous successes with the club.
"We realised there was no longer perfect coordination between the squad and the coach," Urano explained.
"We saw there were several important weaknesses on that level, so we could not avoid the decision.
"I am not happy with it. You can't sweep away a Coupe de France final and a promotion to Ligue 1.
"Stability is essential in football, not to disturb the squad too much, but we believed [assistant] Jose Pasqualetti was the right man to seize the coming challenges.
"The first and main responsibility for the present situation is myself.
"I have taken this on as a personal failure.
"The departure of Serge Romano is not a solution. It is not the end of the players' problems, because we will ask them for more."
Sedan's next crunch league game comes against Nantes on Saturday as they look to kick-start their season once and for all.
