Spurs land Norwegian starlet

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign SK Gjovik Lyn starlet Dag Alexander Olsen.

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign SK Gjovik Lyn starlet Dag Alexander Olsen.

The 17-year-old impressed during a short trial and will move to White Hart Lane from the Norwegian second division side subject to passing a medical.

Spurs beat off a number of top European clubs to land the striker and sporting director Damien Comolli is excited by his signing.

"Alex is a talented player, very, very quick and has an impressive goalscoring record in what is his first season in the first team at Gjovik Lyn," Comolli told the club's official website.

"He came here for a week's trial and impressed both our Academy and senior staff and we are delighted to sign him for our Academy and development squads.

"Alex had offers from many top clubs both in England and across Europe but he showed a real desire to play for Spurs."

Meanwhile, Spurs have suffered a double blow with the news of injuries to defenders Calum Davenport and Paul Stalteri.

Davenport could require surgery on a troublesome groin, while Stalteri damaged knee ligaments against Milton Keynes Dons last month.

Both players could be sidelined for upwards of two weeks with their respective problems.

"Paul Stalteri has a medial ligament strain in his knee," manager Martin Jol told the club's official website.

"He did that against MK Dons but played on because he has that mentality but he could now be out for a couple of weeks.

"Calum Davenport went to Germany with our medical staff to see a specialist about his groin problem.

"He may need an operation and could be out for two or three weeks."
