Konte leaves Hibs

Amadou Konte has paved the way to leave Hibernian by cancelling his contract.

Amadou Konte has paved the way to leave Hibernian by cancelling his contract.

The Mali forward has struggled to make an impact at Easter Road since arriving from Cambridge in January 2005.

Konte has set his sights on a move to France as he looks to get his career back on track after growing frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at Hibs.

"I stayed at Hibs for two years and it was good but I think the time has come for me to try a new challenge," Konte told the Scotsman.

"I've not been playing and, to be honest, I wasn't happy.

"I saw on TV that John Collins is the new manager but my problems with the club were never about the manager.

"There are two or three Scottish clubs interested in me but I just want to play in France again. That's where my family and friends are."
