Unhappy MSI to move Alberto

MSI look set to move Carlos Alberto to Europe after Corinthians suspended him.

Media Sports Investments have criticised Corinthians' decision to suspend star Carlos Alberto - who now looks set for a move to Europe in January.

The Brazil international fell out with coach Emerson Lao last month, and without the club's permission travelled to London for talks with MSI supremo Kia Joorabchian.

MSI, who own the player and took him there from Porto for £4.5 million in early 2005, insist they gave permission to Alberto to travel to England and that their decision to suspend is incorrect.

"MSI does not agree with the unilateral decisions taken by the directors of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista in relation to Carlos Alberto," said an MSI statement published on Corinthians' website.

"MSI will officially contest them, in view of the fact that the company is the exclusive holder of the rights to administer the club's football department.

"In addition to this, MSI understands that Carlos Alberto acted correctly to respond to the request of the people who invested in his contract and to meet abroad to deal with the problems which have happened in Brazil."

Alberto returned to Brazil earlier this month and met with director of football Edvar Simoes - who took the decision to suspend him and fine him 40 percent of his salary for this month.

MSI - who have an agreement with Corinthians up to 2014 - now look certain to move Alberto back to Europe in January when the transfer window opens, as they did with Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in August.

With their other assets in place at West Ham, a move to Upton Park for Alberto does appear the most realistic prospect - coupled with the fact that Joorabchian is still hoping to conclude a deal for The Hammers within the next week.

Alberto himself accepted Corinthians' decision to suspend him - confirming that he was almost certain to leave the club.

"I had a meeting with the president and Edvar Simoes to define whether I would be incorporated back into the group or if I would train separately," he told Gazeta Espotiva.

"I put myself at their disposal and if it was necessary to play, I would be ready, since I even trained in London. But they had defined that I am free of my professional commitments until the end of the year."

On his trip to London, Alberto confirmed that Joorabchian had already put the wheels in motion to move him.

"They have started to analyse the proposals that they have found and are practically certain that I will come back to Europe in the year that comes," he added.
