The Switzerland international defender limped out of BVB's goalless home draw with Aachen on Tuesday with a thigh problem and an MRI scan on Wednesday revealed torn ligaments.

Club doctor Markus Braun told Dortmund's official website that the 23-year-old will be sidelined for "two to three weeks".

The news is another blow to the 1997 European champions, who have endured a frustrating start to the season.

Six draws in 11 Bundesliga matches so far have left the Schwarz-Gelben down in ninth place in the table.
