Emmanuel Adebayor insists the mood in Arsenal's camp remains buoyant despite the fact the Londoners have already slipped ten points behind leaders Manchester United. The Togo international headed his side into the Carling Cup quarter finals courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Everton on Wednesday night, but on Sunday, the focus of attention again switches to Premiership pursuits.
Arsenal host Liverpool at Emirates Stadium with Adebayor well aware that the game in North London represents the proverbial 'six-pointer' - with Rafa Benitez's side also having struggled to live up to pre-season expectations.
While the neutrals would perhaps suggest the title is now beyond Arsene Wenger's charges, Adebayor is staunchly of the opinion that they can end the season at the table's summit, if they keep on improving.
"I would say that yes, Liverpool is a must-win game," said the 22-year-old.
"If you hope to win The Premiership, every one is important.
"But this weekend it is even more so. Hopefully we will all enjoy it and hopefully we will win.
"We know that we are a very good side and have a lot of confidence. There are still a lot of games to the end of the season, and we will keep going right to then and hope we are back in the Premiership race.
"It is a new stadium and we are still getting to know it, but we are enjoying playing there now.
"We know that Liverpool are a good team, but we have got our confidence back and know we can score at any moment because we have such a lot of good players.
"Maybe we have had a bit of a poor start, but we want to end this season in the best position possible. We know we have a good team, so we will see.
"Manchester United being so far ahead is a problem and maybe we have had a bit of a poor start, but we know we can catch them."
