Cahill confident over injury

Injured Everton star Tim Cahill is remaining positive despite facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Cahill picked up a knee injury after an accidental collision with team-mate Lee Carsley during the defeat to Aston Villa earlier this month.

The Australian international faces up to eight weeks out of action, but Cahill is hopeful he could return quicker than expected.

"It is not the best news to be out with an injury, but the biggest thing is that it's not a cruciate and that I am not out for six months," Cahill told the club's official website.

"I'd like to think I am a quick healer. I have been fortunate enough that I have recovered from major injuries quite quickly.

"I am very optimistic that if I do everything right then I will pick up the rewards.

"Before the World Cup I only had six weeks to get a posterior tear right and I did everything I could by training three times again, and if I do the same now then I can possibly come back in the same amount of time and be back playing maybe by the end of December or start of January."
