Hibs turn down Brown request

Hibernian have rejected a transfer request from highly-rated midfielder Scott Brown.

Hibernian have rejected a transfer request from highly-rated midfielder Scott Brown.

Along with team-mate Kevin Thomson, Brown has been hoping to agree an improved contract at Easter Road.

The SPL club have been reluctant to enter into contract talks, with both Brown and Thomson linked to several teams.

Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers are rumoured to hold an interest, while Premiership trio Charlton, Everton and Reading have also been linked.

Brown has now tried to force an end to the situation by putting in a transfer request after the 2-1 win over Dundee United on Saturday.

Hibs, though, have given the player's demand short shrift as manager John Collins looks to keep Brown in Edinburgh.

"A transfer request was received," confirmed a Hibs spokesman. "The manager has read it and the answer is no.

"The matter is at an end as far as we are concerned."
