Sheridan serious about cup
John Sheridan feels it is a case of getting the job done against King's Lynn.
John Sheridan feels it is a case of getting the job done as he prepares his Oldham side for an FA Cup second round tie at King's Lynn, a game that can be seen live on Sky Sports 1.With Oldham flying high in League One and heading into the clash on the back of a 3-0 victory at Huddersfield, it would be a genuine shock if their FA Cup involvement ended on Friday.
However, Sheridan is well aware that King's Lynn will raise their game considerably for the visit of a league side and as Oldham discovered against Kettering in the last round, games against teams lower down the football pyramid can prove difficult.
"We're going into the unknown really," Sheridan told Sky Sports News. "We proved the case against Kettering (in a game Oldham won 4-3) that we will treat them the same as any league team.
"We know they're going to be up for it. Usually a non-league team raises their game 20 per cent, 30 per cent and they'll give you a good game, possibly for the first half hour. They will come out playing 100 miles per hour, so we've got to be ready for that.
"It's very important. Obviously with it being on telly, it brings a bit of revenue into the club which we need.
"If we get through this round, hopefully we'll get a big team away - a Premiership team. It's all revenue and it enables me to get one or two players in."
Meanwhile, recent reports have suggested Leeds are having Oldham winger Chris Taylor watched, with a view to expressing interest in the January transfer window.
The promising starlet made the breakthrough into Oldham's first team last season under Ronnie Moore's tenure and he has continued his progress under Sheridan's regime this term.
With Sean Gregan currently on loan at Oldham and having been told he has no future at Elland Road, a swap deal has been mooted but it remains to be seen whether Leeds hold genuine interest.
Sky Sports News is covering the third round draw live at 3.15 pm on Sunday afternoon.
