Bhoys ease past Pars

Celtic bounced back from their midweek mauling to account for Dunfermline.

Celtic bounced back from their midweek mauling in Denmark to account for Dunfermline 2-1 at East End Park.

Gordon Strachan's Bhoys missed out on top spot in their UEFA Champions League group after being thumped by FC Copenhagen, but the setback did not appear to affect them as they proved too good for Dunfermline.

It proved a frustrating first half for Celtic, as they carved out a number of chances but failed to hit the target. Kenny Miller was the guilty party on a couple of occasions, as he had a shot saved by Dorus De Vries and then passed up an open goal.

Miller, though, had a hand in Celtic's opener on 49 minutes as he cut the ball back for Aiden McGeady who curled home from the edge of the box.

Maciej Zurawski (pictured) put the game beyond Dunfermline 22 minutes from time as he showed great quality to control Neil Lennon's lofted pass before swivelling and slamming a shot beyond De Vries.

Stephen Simmons netted a scrappy goal for Dunfermline in injury-time, but it proved nothing more than a consolation.

The game ended on a sour note for Celtic as Lennon and McGeady had to be separated by team-mates following a heated exchange of views.
