Carragher: Success important

Jamie Carragher believes that achieving success should be Liverpool's priority.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that achieving success should be the priority at Anfield.

The 28-year-old, who scored only his fourth goal of his Reds career in Saturday's 4-0 thrashing of Fulham, made the comments amidst the possible takeover of the Merseyside giants by Dubai International Capital.

Some have expressed concerns that such a move would rob Liverpool of their identity as a club, but Carragher thinks anything that can help The Reds continue to have success in the future is positive news.

"The most important thing is to win trophies, not just have local lads on the pitch," Carragher said in The Sun's 'supergoals' section.

"But if you can do both, any club and any set of supporters would prefer that.

"We are supporters too and want to see the club do well, so hopefully it can be a big step forward.

"But the men at the top of the club have the club at their heart and whatever decision they take it will be in the club's best interests."
