Darren Huckerby has handed Norwich a boost by signing a new contract at Carrow Road. The former Newcastle striker was heading into the final few months of his contract and he would have been free to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.
Norwich had feared that their disappointing start to the campaign would have led to Huckerby moving on, but he opted to sign a new one-year deal and manager Peter Grant has praised the board for agreeing terms with the striker.
"I'd like to thank the club for showing the ambition to re-sign Darren," said Grant.
"He is a great signing for us and shows where the club wants to be."
Huckerby is happy to have put all the speculation surrounding his future behind him.
"I'm really pleased to have it all tied up so I can concentrate on my football," he told the club's website.
"I'm delighted to sign this deal and happy to be working with the manager and am looking forward to the future here."
