Tugay 'Good enough for Barca'

Mark Hughes has claimed Tugay is good enough to play for Barcelona.

Mark Hughes has hailed Tugay, claiming Blackburn Rovers' midfield maestro is good enough to play for Barcelona.

The former Turkish international, now 36, has been outstanding once again this season and caught the eye in Rovers' 1-0 win over Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Tugay's vision was at the heart of the move that led to Rovers' winner and Hughes is grateful to be able to call on a player of the Turk's calibre.

Rovers' only problem is Tugay's advancing years, but Hughes admits that if the player were in his prime he would have been gracing Camp Nou and not Ewood Park.

"Tugay is playing absolutely out of his skin at the moment," said Hughes.

"People say to me, 'don't you wish he was 10 years younger?' My answer is 'no', because if he was he would be at Barcelona."
