Robins start to reshape squad
Fola Onibuje has joined Wycombe, but Michael Timlin is set to stay at Swindon.
Swindon have allowed Fola Onibuje to go out on loan to Wycombe, but manager Paul Sturrock is hoping to extend the contracts of Sofiane Zaaboub and Michael Timlin.Striker Onibuje has just returned to The County Ground following a two-month loan spell with Brentford, but Sturrock has now agreed for him to link up with Wycombe.
"Fola has joined Wycombe Wanderers. He came back from Brentford and he has now been loaned to Wycombe," Sturrock told the club's official website.
Timlin is set to return to Fulham in January, while Zaaboub's short-term deal expires in the New Year, but Sturrock would like to keep both players.
"We are trying to extend the contracts of Sofiane and Michael Timlin. We will be speaking to Fulham and we are trying to extend Michael's deal here," he explained.
Sturrock also confirmed he is in negotiations with one player who he hopes will join the club ahead of next week's FA Cup clash with Crystal Palace.
"I will be speaking to a player with a view to bringing him in next week. We are in talks and I'm hopeful something will come of it."
Meanwhile, Leigh Henry, David Stroud and Royce Brownlie are to look for new clubs after being told they have no future at Swindon.
"I won't be lengthening the deals of Stroud and Henry," he announced.
"It would be easy for me to give them more time but I don't want them to become squad players here.
"I will help them all I can and I hope they go on and prove me wrong one day.
"Royce Brownlie has been told that he is surplus to requirements.
"He is at an age where he needs to be playing first-team football and I couldn't see that happening here.
"I have made a conscious decision that he would be well down the pecking order in January after we bring a few in."
