No Stamp for Quakers

Darlington have parted company with midfielder Phil Stamp by mutual consent.

The former Middlesbrough and Hearts player leaves The Quakers after a year-and-a-half with the League Two side.

The Middlesbrough-born player has struggled with injury at The TFM Darlington Arena, having made just nine first-team appearances for the North East outfit.

With the 31-year-old's contract set to expire at the end of the current season, Darlington boss Dave Penney has opted to let Stamp leave and find pastures new in the January transfer window.

"Phil has struggled with injury this season and we came to an agreement to terminate his contract with the club," Penney told the club's official website.

"He is a great personality in the dressing room and a popular figure with the players and everyone would like to wish him all the very best for the future."

In a week of player movement at Darlington, midfielder David Rowson has returned to The Quakers from a loan spell at Boston United, while Mark Albrighton has gone back to parent club Boston after a similar loan spell with Penney's side.

Anthony Griffiths had also ended his Darlington loan and returned to parent club Doncaster Rovers.

Meanwhile, The Quakers featured two trialists in the reserves this week, with Shildon striker Adam Emson and Sheffield United hit-man Colin Marrison getting a run out.
