Darlo add second Boro starlet

Darlington have signed their second player from Middlesbrough in the space of a few days.

Darlington have signed their second player from Premiership neighbours Middlesbrough in the space of a few days.

Highly-rated stopper Kevin Burgess has arrived on loan at The TFM Arena until the end of the season and joins Boro team-mate David Wheater at Darlington - who signed earlier this week.

"We found out he was available so he came and played three reserve games for us," manager Dave Penney told the club's website.

"We have liked what we have seen because he is a tough boy and we did not have anyone at youth level who we thought could step into the first team.

"This kid can play at either right-back or centre-half. He is a tough kid and will do all right for us and give us that base below the first team in case we have injuries again."

Meanwhile, Darlington have confirmed Neil Maddison has ended his playing career to become full time youth coach at the club.
