Cole fires Harry blast

Andy Cole claims Harry Redknapp has kept him in the dark over interest from other clubs.

A frustrated Andy Cole claims manager Harry Redknapp has kept him in the dark over interest from other clubs.

Cole was on the score sheet for the fourth time this season in Portsmouth's FA Cup win over Wigan on Saturday, but a lack of match action has unsettled the veteran former Manchester United man.

A move to Premiership strugglers Charlton has been mooted for Cole, 35, with Redknapp even claiming he has received a number of offers for Cole - though that is news to the player.

"Has he? He hasn't told me. But to be fair he has kept away from me for the past few days," said Cole.

"I don't expect to play 38 games, I don't think I could. But I do believe I could play 25 to 30 games.

"I have sat about on the bench for four months. I am not going to lie, I do get frustrated. You won't score too many goals sitting on your a***.

"When I came here in the summer I said I wanted to play football, I hadn't just come here for a little jolly. That's not me, I'd prefer to jack it in rather than do that."

Striking colleague Nwankwo Kanu's future has also been the subject of great debate, amid reports of interest from Ajax and Hamburg.

Kanu, who has been a revelation this season with ten goals to his name already, has opened contract talks with Pompey, and the player claims his first choice would be to remain at Fratton Park.

"Soon we will have to sit down and talk and then I shall know whether the club really appreciates what I'm doing or not," said Kanu.

"That's football - if it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen.

"There is some interest from other clubs, not in England but abroad. But my first place is Pompey."
