Jon Newby is on trial at Rochdale as he starts his quest to find a new club.

The striker was released from a month-to-month contract at Wrexham in December after struggling with a groin injury.

Newby had originally joined the club in August and made 13 appearances without scoring a goal.

The former Bury man has now pitched up at Rochdale as he looks to secure a contract for the second half of the season.

He will aim to boost his claims to new Dale boss Keith Hill when he lines up in Wednesday's reserve game against Tranmere Rovers.
