Schmeichel set to join Scots

Falkirk will sign Kasper Schmeichel, but have rejected Rangers' offer for Alan Gow.

Falkirk are poised to sign Kasper Schmeichel on loan from Manchester City, whilst the SPL club have rejected a bid from Rangers for star man Alan Gow.

The Scottish side are keen to build on their impressive first half of the season and have now moved to strengthen their goalkeeping options by recruiting City shot stopper Schmeichel.

Bury had been keen to bring the son of legendary Danish keeper Peter back to Gigg Lane after a previous loan spell, but Falkirk have beaten them to the punch with Schmeichel set to ink his deal in the coming hours.

"Falkirk Football Club are delighted to announce that we have agreed terms with Manchester City for the services of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel until the end of the season," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Kasper will travel North tonight to complete formalities and subject to international clearance being granted in time, will be available for selection for Saturday's derby SPL fixture against Dunfermline Athletic."

Schmeichel, if selected, will line up alongside Gow after The Bairns rejected a offer from Glasgow giants Rangers for the star performer.

Wolves have also had a bid turned down for the man who has impressed vividly in the SPL this season, and Falkirk have underlined their determination to keep hold of Gow as they look to enjoy a productive season.

"Falkirk Football Club can confirm that they have today received and rejected an offer from Rangers Football Club for the immediate transfer of Alan Gow," read a club statement.

"Supporters should realise that there are a large number of interested clubs who would appear to be interested in securing Alan Gow's services and there will no doubt be further discussions during the January transfer window."
