Milton Keynes Dons slipped out of the top three after going down 1-0 at Hartlepool United.

Milton Keynes Dons slipped out of the top three after going down 1-0 at Hartlepool United.

With leaders Walsall not playing until Monday, The Dons had the chance to move to within a point of The Saddlers - but it was not to be as Danny Wilson's high-flying side sealed victory.

The only goal of the game came just before the hour when midfielder Tony Sweeney fired home - sending Hartlepool into fifth. Milton Keynes' day went from bad to worse late on when top scorer Izale McLeod (pictured) was sent off.

Swindon took advantage of MK Dons' defeat by climbing into second following their 2-1 win over Wrexham.

The Welsh outfit took the lead at the County Ground through Marc Williams (8), but goals from Sofiane Zaaboub (9) and Christian Roberts (71 pen) sealed the win.

Lincoln remain third after being held to a 1-1 draw by Shrewsbury at Sincil Bank. Lee Frecklington (17) put The Imps ahead but debutant Mike Jones (63) sealed a point for The Shrews.

Carling Cup heroes Wycombe made sure their good league form continued, and it was leading marksman Jermaine Easter who pounced two minutes from time to give his side a 1-0 win at Chester.

Stockport climbed into eighth after their 2-0 win over Boston. Goals in each half from Adam Proudlock (25) and Tes Bramble (79) sealed the win.

Rickie Lambert returned to Spotland to haunt his former club Rochdale as he scored the only goal of the game to give Bristol Rovers a 1-0 win.

Darlington came from behind to beat Peterborough 3-1 at The TFM Arena.

Adam Smith (23) put the Posh ahead, but goals from David Wheater (41) and Julian Joachim (51 & 61) sealed the win for Dave Penney's side.

Bottom of the table Torquay contrived to throw away a two-goal lead against ten-man Bury at Plainmoor.

Alan Fettis was sent off on 32 minutes for a professional foul and Jamie Ward converted from the spot. Ward fired home another penalty just after the break to make it 2-0.

But The Gulls could not hang on as Marc Pugh (79) and Andy Bishop (90 pen) secured a share of the spoils for the visitors.

Mansfield eased their relegation worries with a 3-1 win at Hereford. Barry Conlon scored on his Stags debut to give them the lead on ten minutes before Michael Boulding (79) doubled their advantage.

Gareth Sheldon pulled one back for the home side in the final minute, but Martin Gritton restored the two-goal cushion in stoppage time.

Accrington Stanley remain third from bottom after going down 2-1 to Notts County.

Goals from Lawrie Dudfield (9) and Jason Lee (20) sandwiched a David Brown (14) goal to give County the win.

Both teams were reduced to ten men with 15 minutes left when Alan Rogers and David Pipe both saw red.

Finally, Barnet claimed a 1-0 win over Macclesfield to make sure Paul Ince's side remain second from bottom. The only goal at Underhill came from Adam Birchall (40).
