Werder keen on Baros

Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen are reportedly looking to sign Milan Baros.

Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen are reportedly looking to sign Aston Villa's Milan Baros in the summer.

A report in Bild claims the German club are lining up the Czech Republic international and Norwegian John Carew to replace Miroslav Klose, who looks set to move abroad at the end of the season.

The newspaper claims that Bremen have already spoken to Baros about a move and quotes coach Thomas Schaaf as saying Baros is 'a very good player who knows where the goal is'.

Baros has struggled to reproduce anything like his best form since arriving at Villa Park from Liverpool and it has previously been reported that Chelsea were weighing up an offer for the striker.

Meanwhile, Bremen look to have completed the signing of former Germany Under 21 star Peter Niemeyer from Twente Enschede.

The defensive all-rounder had originally agreed a move to the Weser Stadion for this summer, but Bild now reports that Werder will officially present him as a winter signing later this week.
