Lyon looking for strikers

Lyon intend to add up to two attacking players before the transfer window closes.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed he intends to add up to two attacking players before the January transfer window closes.

St Etienne striker Frederic Piquionne is thought to be Gerard Houllier's number one target this month.

Aston Villa's Milan Baros is also believed to be high on Houllier's list and Aulas admitted a liking for the Czech striker.

"He (Piquionne) is not our only trail, as I said one or two attacking players could join us before the end of the transfer window," Aulas told AFP.

"Milan Baros? He is a very good player."

Norwegian international John Carew could be on his way out of Lyon with Aulas revealing several clubs have enquired about his services.

Aulas added: "It is true that (Werder) Bremen called us last Saturday, and a total of three clubs did the same. But we are not close to an agreement."

Meanwhile, Alou Diarra picked up an injury in Wednesday's Cup victory over Le Mans and is a major concern for Houllier.

The France midfielder had only just returned from a thigh problem but left the pitch on a stretcher 10 minutes after replacing Juninho.

"He didn't come back too early, and I don't believe in a curse," Houllier said.

"This time the Alou Diarra injury is a little more serious than last time."
