Vine: Only Blues for me

Rowan Vine was only going to join Birmingham City once they made their move.

Birmingham City's recent capture Rowan Vine has stated he was always going to join Blues once they made their move.

A host of clubs were chasing the former Portsmouth striker's services once Luton Town were prepared to let him leave.

Vine was weighing up his options until Steve Bruce came calling and the 24-year-old wasted little time in making his decision.

"It feels brilliant, I'm obviously delighted to have signed here," Vine told Sky Sports News.

"Other clubs were interested, but once I knew that Birmingham were interested that's where I wanted to be really.

"He (Bruce) was delighted he could get me. He's hoping I can score some goals for Birmingham instead of scoring against them.

"Hopefully I can get in there, play some games, do well and get some goals. It's going to be a tough ask for me getting in, but hopefully I can do that.

"I'm not setting myself any targets, but the aim for the club is to get into the Premier League so hopefully I can play a part in that and score a few goals."

Vine could not hide his disappointed at failing to make the breakthrough at Pompey, but was delighted things had still worked out for the best.

"I was a little bit disappointed at not making it at the start, but I went to have a good time at Luton so I can't really look back and be too disappointed," he continued.

"Hopefully I do prove a few people wrong."

Vine concluded by jokingly stating he is hoping Blues do not make the FA Cup final as he is cup-tied: "It'll be really disappointing if they get to the final!"
