Cech: Comeback is my victory
Petr Cech has described his return to action for Chelsea as a 'big personal victory'.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has described his long-awaited return to action as a 'big personal victory'.The Czech international played for the first time in over three months in The Blues' 2-0 defeat at Liverpool, marking his return from a fractured skull sustained in a collision with Reading's Stephen Hunt.
Cech will be forced to play with a protective cap for the rest of the season after suffering the life-threatening injury, but the Chelsea shot-stopper admits he was delighted to put his injury hell behind him, despite being on the losing side at Anfield.
"The fact that I played today is my big personal victory," Cech told his official website.
"The loss spoils it a bit, but I am very happy that I did not make any mistakes during the game.
"I felt very good in the game, it was not easy after the first goal, but then the save from [John Arne] Riise's shot helped me."
Cech will be watching Sunday's game between Manchester United and Arsenal with great interest, and the former Rennes man believes the title race will not be over, even if Sir Alex Ferguson enjoys a nine-point advantage at the conclusion of the weekend.
"It will be a very important game in terms of the title race, but not the decisive one," he added.
"There are still many games to play, moreover, I think Manchester will have it very difficult there [at Arsenal]."
