Burnley bag Gudjonsson

Burnley have wrapped up the capture of Icelandic midfielder Joey Gudjonsson.

The 26-year-old failed to nail down a regular starting berth at AZ Alkmaar following his move from Leicester last summer and the Dutch club confirmed he could seek out a new home in January.

Burnley came in with an offer last week and Gudjonsson travelled to the North West on Sunday to discuss terms and undergo a medical.

Terms were swiftly agreed and the £150,000 deal was wrapped up on Monday morning.

Gudjonsson has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Turf Moor and will be available for selection against Stoke on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Clarets boss Steve Cotterill has placed keeper Brian Jensen on the transfer list at the Dane's request.

The 31-year-old has become frustrated after losing his place to loan signing Mike Pollitt.
