Blues reject fresh Upson bid
Birmingham have rejected an improved offer from West Ham for Matthew Upson.
Birmingham have rejected an improved offer of £6million from West Ham for Matthew Upson. The defender has so far rejected all offers of a new deal put to him from Blues and a host of clubs have been monitoring his situation with interest.
West Ham are eager to boost their struggling squad in January and they have had a second bid for Upson rejected, having seen a £4million approach rebuffed last week.
Upson has 18 months to run on his present commitment and with Blues pushing hard for promotion to the Premiership, manager Steve Bruce has made it clear that he wants to retain the services of the centre-half.
Bruce has stated it will take a 'mega offer' to tempt him to part with Upson and it remains to be seen if The Hammers will improve their bid before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
