Salgado seeks Real stability

Michel Salgado has urged Real Madrid to resolve the disruptive off-field problems which are threatening to compromise the Spanish titans' season.Despite being just one point shy of rivals Barcelona in La Liga, January has been a torrid time for Los Merengues as they have had to deal with scandals surrounding president Ramon Calderon and a bitter dispute over David Beckham's prospective departure to LA Galaxy.
The former England captain has seemingly been axed from the first team picture, along with Antonio Cassano and Ronaldo, in a situation that has caused some concern amongst the playing staff at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real's squad have also been angered by pointed personal criticism from Calderon in recent days, and the president's future is further in doubt due to an imminent ruling over the legality of his rule at the nine-time European Cup winners.
A provincial court will decide on Thursday whether 10,511 postal votes from last July's presidential elections should be counted, and if a judge gives the green light then there is every chance Calderon could be ousted from the Real hot-seat.
With confusion reigning within the corridors of power at the Bernabeu, Real right-back Salgado has called on the historic club to bring a semblance of stability as quickly as possible.
"I've always said that they have to sort things out from the top down," Salgado. "It looks like there are going to be some more problems soon and that isn't going to help.
"All this talk about the postal vote affects the team.
"This is the first thing that has to be resolved. After all, the players belong to Real Madrid not to any particular person and this will affect all of us."
Salgado has also criticised Fabio Capello's decision to shun Beckham, Cassano and Ronaldo - who is expected to join Milan before the end of the transfer window.
"Above all they are Real Madrid players and they can help us win trophies," Salgado added.
"It doesn't seem like a good idea to leave three or four players out before the end of the season. It isn't good for the squad, but in the end it is down to the coach to make these decisions."
