Thorpe goes back to Grimsby
Grimsby Town have re-signed striker Tony Thorpe from Stevenage Borough.
Grimsby Town have re-signed Tony Thorpe and concluded a permanent deal for Carlisle United defender Simon Grand.
Experienced striker Thorpe spent a month on loan at Blundell Park from Stevenage earlier in the season when Graham Rodger was manager.
His replacement Alan Buckley brought Thorpe back to the club on trial last week and has now secured the forward until the end of the campaign.
"He looks like my sort of player," Buckley told the club's official website.
"He's looked nice and bright on the training pitch and did okay last week, so I asked if we can keep him for a few more days.
"Our chairman spoke to the Stevenage chairman and it's been agreed he can stay here until the end of the season."
Buckley has also tied up a permanent arrangement for Grand, who has made three appearances since coming in from Carlisle earlier this month.
Grand has signed an 18-month contract, with the option of a further year, with the League Two strugglers.
