Carew happy with Young link-up

John Carew is pleased to have forged a partnership with Ashley Young at Aston Villa.

New Aston Villa striker John Carew is pleased to have forged an attacking partnership with Ashley Young.

The Norway international, who arrived at Villa Park in the January transfer window from French champions Lyon, marked his home debut with the winning goal over struggling West Ham United on Saturday.

Young joined Carew in making a similar January move to Martin O'Neill's side from Premiership rivals Watford, and the former Rosenborg, Valencia and Besiktas hit-man is delighted things have started so well with his new club.

"Ashley and I get on really well. We are all good friends in the team," Carew told The Sun's 'supergoals' section.

"Some people around the club are calling us Little Brother and Big Brother!

"He is a nice guy and the partnership looks good on the pitch. We are both new to the club, so we've been talking quite a lot.

"We are staying in the same apartment block. We talk off the field and it looks like it is clicking on the pitch so, hopefully, that can carry on.

"I thought the partnership worked well (against West Ham). We linked up and scored a goal - I thought he did well and, personally, I did well."
