Peter Lovenkrands was delighted following Schalke's 2-0 victory at Werder Bremen.
Peter Lovenkrands was delighted to score both goals as Schalke moved top of the Bundesliga with a 2-0 victory at Werder Bremen. The Danish winger, who found the target on 20 and 74 minutes, paid tribute to a fine team display following the game against in-form Werder.
"We had not expected this, but we worked tremendously hard in midfield." Lovenkrands told BT.
"Our tactic was to rely on counter-attacks and it worked perfectly. This result was truly important for the club."
Lovenkrands also admitted he was saddened not to be picked for Denmark's friendly with Australia after scoring against Czech Republic last time out.
"Of course I am disappointed that I was not selected." he said.
"Although I scored the last time I played there are many good players around the national team, so I shall now continue to work hard and then I will hopefully get another chance.
"Morten Olsen called me and explained that he wanted to test some other players and I respect that."
