Drogba targets Golden Boot
Didier Drogba is hoping to finish the season as Europe's top scorer.
Didier Drogba is hoping to finish the season as Europe's top scorer, but insists winning the Golden Boot is secondary to Chelsea claiming the Premiership title. The striker has been in devastating form this term and has so far netted 23 times.
But Chelsea are six points behind Manchester United in the title race and Drogba admits any individual recognition he gets will be little consolation if the Premiership slips away.
"Of course I can win the Golden Boot," he said.
"But as much as I'd love to be the top scorer, it would mean nothing if Chelsea don't win the league. I'd like to win the Premiership and the Golden Boot.
"I've scored some great goals this year. If I had to pick my best, I'd say it was the one at Everton.
"It was a dramatic last-minute goal and a very important one because we came from behind to win."
Meanwhile, Chelsea are to contact Fifa over John Obi Mikel, who played 90 minutes for Nigeria in midweek against the club's wishes.
Jose Mourinho stated on Monday that the midfielder had suffered a thigh injury and would miss Chelsea's next two games.
Nigeria coach Augustin Eguavoen saw things differently and accused Chelsea of not being straight with him regarding Mikel's fitness.
But The Blues maintain the player was injured and cannot understand why he was selected by Nigeria.
