Ray Parlour admits it is 'quite exciting' to be involved in a relegation battle with Hull City.

The former England international joined the Championship strugglers last week after being released by Middlesbrough in January.

He made his debut as a second half substitute in the 2-2 draw at leaders Derby County and is keen to make an impact for the rest of the season.

Though Parlour will train with old club Arsenal during the week, the midfielder outlined his commitment to keeping Hull up.

"It's my first-ever relegation battle, so it's quite exciting really!" said Parlour.

"Don't get me wrong, I'd rather be at the top, but we're all playing for something here. The lads are a good bunch and everyone is committed to the cause.

"I'll be training all week with Arsenal and I've got a good agreement with Hull in that if I don't play, I don't get paid.

"I don't want to take their money for the sake of it and I'm genuinely here to help the club.

"I left Middlesbrough to be back with my children in London because I was travelling a lot to see them, but now I'm at Hull I want to play a part in helping them stay up."
