Boston keen on Westwood
Boston United are hoping to sign Chester City defender Ashley Westwood.
Boston United are hoping to sign Chester City defender Ashley Westwood.
Since joining Chester from Northampton Town last summer, Westwood has made 25 appearances for Mark Wright's side.
But he could now link up with League Two rivals Boston, although Chester want to line up a replacement before agreeing to his exit.
"We've been approached by Boston over Westwood and I think he might want to move a bit closer to home," said Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan.
"He's got 18 months left on his contract, so he won't go unless he wants to go and we'd need to find a replacement.
"We won't stand in his way, but at the same time we need to replace him."
Boston's move for Westwood could prompt Steve Evans to send loan defender Bradley Thomas back to Yeovil Town.
Thomas has made six appearances for The Pilgrims, but Evans concedes he is unsure about extending the loan.
Evans told the Lincolnshire Echo: "Brad wants to stay and Yeovil want him to stay, but I have still yet to decide.
"There are other players out there I am looking at."
