David Bentley was happy to pledge his long-term future to Blackburn Rovers.
David Bentley admits he was happy to pledge his long-term future to Blackburn Rovers.
The midfielder has been reward for a fine season with a two-year contract extension taking him through to 2011.
He has become a key figure in Mark Hughes' side and the former Arsenal man was relieved to conclude the matter.
"In a couple of months of negotiations, I'm really happy it's been sorted out," Bentley told Sky Sports News.
"I'm just looking to kick on in my career, hopefully I'll improve as a player and get better, and hopefully the benefits will be for Blackburn.
"You see what happens on a Saturday, I enjoy the game and I enjoy coming into the building every day.
"I'm in a good place in my life at the minute and I didn't want to change that."
After playing in the Uefa Cup for Rovers this season, Bentley is now keen for the club to continue making forward strides.
He added: "There's quality in the team, we've got quality, determined players who want to improve.
"The management staff are all pushing in the right direction.
"We've been a bit unlucky with injuries this year and hopefully next season we are really going to make a push."
