Posh target Shakers striker

Peterborough United are keen on signing Andy Bishop from League Two rivals Bury.

Peterborough United are keen on signing Andy Bishop from League Two rivals Bury.

Bishop has scored 18 goals for Bury since joining the club last summer from Conference club York City.

The striker is now a summer target for Peterborough, whose chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed his club's interest.

"I've spoken to Bury about Andy," said MacAnthony.

"I want this club in the Premiership and I'm convinced we'll be there within six years."

Meanwhile, MacAnthony has revealed Posh have agreed a record-breaking £3million shirt sponsorship deal with MRI Overseas Property - a company owned by the chairman.

The deal, to span the next two seasons, is the largest in the Football League and MacAnthony feels it will help the club to attract new players.

He told the club's official website: "The sponsorship deal is the largest in the history of the Football League and is on a par with many Premiership teams.

"This deal will enable our club to bring in new players and improve both on and off the field."
