Michael Ballack claims Chelsea's victory over Porto on Tuesday handed manager Jose Mourinho a tremendous lift.Germany star Ballack proved to be the hero for The Blues as he popped up with the goal which sent Chelsea into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Ballack has come in for stiff criticism this term and he admits it was nice to find the target, but dedicated the victory to Mourinho.
"I am always happy to score, but it is important for the club and especially for the coach as we played against Porto, the club he came from, and he is happy," Ballack told Sky Sports News.
Andrei Shevchenko teed up Ballack for the winning goal and the Ukraine star feels Chelsea merited their victory.
"The team tried hard and scored two goals," said Shevchenko. "It was difficult, but now every player is happy, the manager is happy and I think it is a good day for Chelsea."
