Enzo spares holders' blushes
A late goal by Enzo Maresca rescued a 2-2 draw for Sevilla against Shakhtar Donetsk.
An 88th minute goal by Enzo Maresca rescued a 2-2 draw for Sevilla at home to Shakhtar Donetsk but this Uefa Cup last 16 tie is now weighted in favour of the Ukrainians.
The tournament holders were given the perfect start after just eight minutes when Shakhtar goalkeeper Bohdan Shust brought down Aleksandr Kerzhakov to hand a penalty to the home side which Jose Luis Marti duly converted.
Shakhtar struck back just 10 minutes later to claim a crucial away goal with defender Tomas Hubschman netting from close range.
A shock was on the cards when Olexii Bielik was felled by Daniel Alves inside the penalty area and Francesco Matuzalem stepped up to hand the visitors a 2-1 lead with an hour gone.
Remarkably referee Viktor Kassai awarded a third penalty and the second to Sevilla two minutes from time.
Maresca was fouled by Olexii Gai, with the Italian midfielder dusting himself down to score the penalty himself and send the hosts into next week's second leg in Ukraine in better heart.
