Preston pounce for winger

Portsmouth winger Franck Songo'o has joined promotion-chasing Preston on loan.

Portsmouth winger Franck Songo'o has joined promotion-chasing Preston North End on loan.

The France Under 19 international will spend the rest of the season at Deepdale as Preston chase a place in the Premiership.

Songo'o, who spent a spell on loan at Bournemouth earlier in the campaign, has made just three substitute appearances during his time at Pompey.

He will now look to make an impact in the Championship, with Preston boss Paul Simpson happy with his new recruit.

"We have agreed to take Franck on loan from Portsmouth until the end of our season," Simpson told the club's official website.

"From what I have seen of him so far, he's different from what we've already got.

"He's got good pace, good feet and he's an exciting winger who runs at defenders.

"If you consider we've lost Lewis Neal, Joe Anyinsah and Simon Whaley in the last few weeks from the wide positions, he is a player in an area we are short and he should bring some good qualities."
