Taylor made for Latics
Chris Taylor grabbed a brace as Oldham battered Doncaster 4-0 at Boundary Park.
Oldham strengthened their bid for promotion from League One with a convincing 4-0 victory over fellow play-off contenders Doncaster.Buoyed by an excellent victory over Nottingham Forest in midweek Doncaster travelled to Boundary Park in optimum spirits but soon found themselves on the back foot, as the home side deservedly took the lead in the eighth minute when Leon Clarke stabbed in from close range to punish some slack defending.
Oldham could and perhaps should have doubled their lead when Craig Rocastle and Paul Warne both missed glorious opportunities to extend their advantage.
After the interval Doncaster briefly rallied and conjured a couple of half chances of their own but when Rocastle rifled into the floor and beyond Neil Sullivan there was only to be one winner.
Just two minutes later, in the 76th, highly-rated winger Chris Taylor followed up last week's first ever senior goal with a far post header and in injury time, from Warne's lashed crossed, he capped another impressive display with his second.
Oldham now move to within six points of an automatic promotion spot in fifth, while Doncaster remain two points off a play-off berth.
