Pauleta: PSG in 'grave' trouble

PSG's Pedro Pauleta admits his side's top flight status is hanging in the balance.

Paris Saint Germain captain Pedro Pauleta admits his side's top flight status is hanging in the balance.

PSG slipped deeper into trouble after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Auxerre left them just one point off the foot of the Ligue 1 table.

But the Portugal international insists his side will not give up without a fight.

"It is a very grave situation," Pauleta told AFP.

"There are ten matches left and it's going to be very difficult but we will have to give maximum effort to the end.

"But when you play in front of 40,000 fans who applaud you to the end you can't be afraid."

Meanwhile, striker Peguy Luyindula could leave PSG at the end of the season if the Paris club are relegated.

Reports in La Provence claim Luyindula, who is on loan from Marseille, could be forced to return to the Stade Velodrome due to a contractual matter.
