Monterrey target Franco return

Monterrey have confirmed they will open talks for Villarreal's Guillermo Franco.

Monterrey have confirmed they will open negotiations with Villarreal for former striker Guillermo Franco.

Franco enjoyed a successful three years with Monterrey before being transferred to Spain, though the Argentine has found first team football hard to come by this season.

Franco has scored just once in 15 matches for The Yellow Submarines and Monterrey secretary Francisco Navarete is confident of reaching a deal that could suit all parties.

"Monterrey and Franco are not in good situations. The team because we are not playing well and Franco because he is not playing at Villarreal," said Navarete.

"Our idea is to have a meeting with the officials of Villarreal and see if we can agree a loan deal."
