Jol: £40m Berbatov not for sale

Martin Jol claims Dimitar Berbatov reminds him of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

Martin Jol rates Dimitar Berbatov in the £40million bracket but the Tottenham boss is adamant Spurs would snub all offers for the striker.

Berbatov has enjoyed an outstanding debut season in the Premiership following last summer's £11million transfer to Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen.

Jol claims the player even reminds him of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

"In this market he would be £30-40million. But even if somebody offered that we would never sell him," said Jol.

"He reminded me a bit of Johan Cruyff when he started. He's a link-up player, he's a finisher, he's good in the air, he's a target man but he can move as well. He is complete."

Berbatov's form has led to reports that he could be a target for the likes of Manchester United - a club Berbatov admits he held talks with prior to the switch to White Hart Lane.

"Sir Alex was watching me along with United's head scouts, and there were talks," Berbatov was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

"But in the end I came to Tottenham. I have nothing to be sorry about. And maybe in the future if I play good games here they can watch me every Sunday or Saturday.

"I signed here for four years, but nobody knows what the future holds. I think this move to Tottenham is good for my career."
